This is what remains of a nice old onion bottle I found the other day. It was buried about 15" below the sand in a trench I was fanning away at...the base and neck are still intact but what remained of the body of the bottle disintegrated as soon as I tried to move it...the medicine bottles and pottery shard were found in the same trench but only just a few inches below the sand level. The onion bottle dates to the end of the 1600s and the medicine bottles from the mid to late 1800s.
