Wow! Here is a superb fragment of a very old English onion bottle, I found it buried under 20" of loose sand and firmly embedded in the hardened layers. The remaining glass was very fragile and rather than risk breaking it, I cut it out. The onion bottle dates from approx. 1690s. There is a lot more from this period to be found in this spot...but it takes time to recover
